Friends of Huntington Primary Academy (FoHPA) is a friendly bunch of volunteers, whose aim is to raise money to support our school and enrich the pupils’ learning environment. Our fundraising helps to provide additional resources and facilities that improve their day-to-day school life.
Bigger projects we have supported recently include the sensory garden, the outdoor classroom, refurbishment of the library and new books for it, new phonics texts for early years, and a history timeline for the hall. Each year, we also provide new starters with a water bottle, year 6 leavers with a (heavily subsidised) personalised hoodie, and a Christmas book gift for all EYFS and KS1 children, as well as donating amounts to each year group, to spend on additional classroom materials and resources.
Future goals include supporting the development of an outdoor classroom specifically for EYFS, and shaded areas in the playground for when the temperatures go up!
Regular events include the popular Summer and Christmas Fairs, school discos, scarecrow trails and quiz nights.
FoHPA’s President is the headteacher, Mrs Holton. The current FoHPA executive committee comprises:
– Chair – Rachel Dunmore
– Treasurer – Cath Smith
– Secretary – Alex Hiendl
General committee members are: Jess Charters, Chris Charters, Verity Grantham, Vince Ciolino, Laura Bilton, Sarah West.
Being part of FoHPA is a wonderful way to be involved with your child’s journey through school and get to know other parents! We always need support and there is no minimum commitment, we all have busy lives and jobs. You can be involved as much, or as little, as you want, ranging from volunteering at one-off events, to helping with particular areas you might have experience of (like fundraising or social media), through to attending our committee meetings or taking a role on the committee.
Whatever you are able to contribute, we will welcome!
If you’d like to get in touch about helping out or anything else, we’d love to hear from you. Please email us at friends.of.huntington.primary@gmail.com
